Vasco Ispirián (engineer/music selector) was born in Madrid in 1977 and is of Spanish-Greek heritage. Vasco started to show interest for music in his early years. Guitars, music classes and local bands… but it is not until he discovers Kraftwerk or Tangerine Dream that his interest starts to be fully focused on electronic based dance music participating in different music projects both in Spain and Greece.
He started djing in the mid 90’s mainly influenced by intelligent-techno and the Berlin techno-dub. In the meantime, his curiosity and restless mind led him to investigate the main foundations of NYC-Chicago-Detroit.
Vasco was also the main promoter of the idea of gathering some friends [Kiko Barba, Álvaro Cabana and Iván Smoka] to create INNERLIFE, one of the scarce successful collectives that was created in 2000/01 and was hugely acclaimed by critics and audience.
Throughout those years, he starts performing with his friends in Shandú (a small club in Madrid) and begins to leave trace in the best music festivals and venues of the city. It was also likely to see him playing in the beach-bars located in the North of Greece. In 2002, he performed in Psavafaam2002 on the border Greece and Bulgaria, in 2005 he was invited to Observatori Valencia, he recently played in the South of Italy and this current year 2008, he has been invited to perform in Sonar Barcelona.
Since the beginning of 2003, Vasco is resident of The Room (www.theroomclub.com), club that has shown its support for current electronic music since its creation and has hosted reputed artists in the underground dance music scene, such as: Jazzanova, Stacey Pullen, Maurice Fulton, Chris Duckenfield aka Swag, Tom Middletom, Dj Heather, Peter Kruder, Brooks, Âme, Martin Landsky, Richard Dorfmeister, Bill Brewster, Alexi Delano, Inland Knights, Bobby Peru, Brett Jhonson, Dixon, I:Cube, Matthias Tanzmann, C-Rock, Samim, Jamie Jones, Baby Ford, Marco Resmann, Radio Slave, Simon Flower... and where Vasco currently develops his session together with Ángel García.
Vasco has been selecting music in Madrid for over a decade and his particular style mixing house-techno-acid-dub has bolstered his reputation and makes his weekend sessions one of the most interesting you can find in the Madrid club scene.
Labels like 'Scuba Dive Music' and 'Invader' in the past, and more recently 'Minuendo', 'PlaygroundLabel.com', 'Alma Soul Music' and 'Dubherecordings' have edited his music. More releases in different labels are coming in the next future, he assures.
